Bloggers Without Makeup – Learning to Feel Beautiful

Posted on May 14th, 2010 at 8:52 pm by in but seriously, I just saved the world, Social Media

I heard about the whole “women bloggers without makeup” completely on accident. My initial reaction was “wow, that’ll be great….for everybody else.”
Don’t get me wrong. The idea of women feeling confident and empowered enough about their insides that they are willing to shed their shields is inspirational, beautiful and all around incredible. But I honestly can’t remember the last time I left the house without makeup on. There have even been times that I have felt so insecure, I would wake up an hour before Scotty to do my hair and makeup and then go back to bed so he would think I stayed pretty all the time.

In real life, non-blogging world, I work with some awe-inspiring ladies and I try to get it through to them that they are beautiful, gorgeous creatures without needing anything at all to make them feel that way. Well, call me a hypocrite. I don’t want to be that girl anymore. Not saying I’m dumping all of my Mary Kay and growing armpit hair, but I want to learn how to be comfortable in my own skin. Thank you, Mummy Mayhem and all the brave, strong women on the Internet who are teaching me its okay just to be.

This is me. Just me. I'm kind of scared.

Sidenote: It’s been a horrible day. So the puffy eyes and tear stains, yup those are real too. In fact, writing this blog is the first time today I’ve felt better about myself. And it’s 10:00 at night. So how do you get through those days where life just sucks? I learn from you guys, so please, teach <3

**UPDATE*** This has been a wonderful experience. Thank you everyone for all of your sweet comments, tweets, FB messages, e-mails, etc. I have never been so proud to be a part of the lady blogging community. I may even get used to this no makeup thing!

One more without makeup, for good measure

I think some make-up is ok but actually I like the all natual look, I am not into fake eye lashes, fake boobs, or anything else I personally feel if you need to fix your out side to make your inside feel better then you have more problems to work on than gee is my hair done ok or do I need to do my nails before I go to the store to get something for dinner, and as I said that is my opion and mine alone

Wow Megan, sorry this is late, I’m still catching up on comments and blog posts – you look gorgeous!! You say tears today but my eyes puff shut when that happens and you have no puffiness, nor sign of sad – :) A bad day can’t even remove the glow. The funny thing is I could never imagine you wearing makeup.
    Thank you!!

You are gorgeous. All that makeup does is enhance what you already have.
